INTRA is a London-based music charity helping 11-18 year olds from all backgrounds find joy in making music with others, build professional skills, and access the industry. Through band clubs, professional gigs, and industry workshops, we bridge the gap between creative youth and the music business.

Due to funding constraints and a focus on ‘core’ subjects since 2010, school music provision is under critical pressure and access to music continues to shrink. In 2024, 42% of schools did not enter anyone for music GCSE. Access to music education and extra curricular music is increasingly something accessible only to young people from wealthier backgrounds. Music builds confidence, opens doors and connects people across backgrounds. We believe every young person should have access to music.

Through music we create opportunities for young people to build their confidence and develop personal and professional skills. Working alongside local schools and youth clubs, we bring young musicians together to play in bands, learn from professionals, and gain the practical skills that lead somewhere real. Our free band clubs, professional gigs and skills workshops provide opportunities for young people that might not otherwise have access due to socio economic barriers, gender or SEN.
