Women and girls who have experienced domestic violence and different forms of violence, such as sexual violence, need urgent support and tailored counselling therapy. At LAWA, we provide trauma-informed and culturally sensitive services to end violence and achieve self-determination for women.

Latin American and other global majority women who experience gender-based violence face intersectional barriers and discrimination when seeking support. Domestic violence has an impact on women's overall health and due to the current environment of violence and discrimination, over 70% of women coming to LAWA reported mental support needs. During the last year, we have seen an increase in the demand for counselling services that is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive.
As part of our holistic approach, we provide specialised mental health support services in the woman's preferred language and with a trauma-informed approach. 100% of our service users who received counselling support in the last year have manifested that they felt listened to and supported by their therapist. With the support of the campaign, we will be able to maintain the capacity to increase the number of sessions women receive, from 8 with NHS to 20 with our specialist support service.
