Asylum Justice is the only charity in Wales providing free, independent legal advice and representation to asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants—often the last source of help in a hostile system. Demand is extremely high: since 2022 we have grown from 4 to 14 staff. Demand still exceeds capacity: in 25–26 98 people remained on our waiting list. Without increased capacity, too many people will continue to be left without vital legal support in an increasingly harsh system.
Unrestricted funding will enable Asylum Justice to respond to a fast‑changing asylum system. It will help retain skilled advisers, cover core costs, and adapt services to rising demand, ensuring continued free, expert legal advice and representation. It will also fund essential casework costs, including expert reports, strengthening complex cases and enabling robust, high‑quality support for people with nowhere else to turn at critical moments.
