Minoritised women who have survived domestic abuse face multiple, compounding barriers to accessing support: language barriers; insecure immigration status (with women made to fear deportation by perpetrators); fear of community shame; mistrust of statutory services; lack of financial independence; and cultural or faith narratives misused to silence survivors. Despite higher rates of abuse, minoritised women are routinely excluded from mainstream services that do not reflect their needs.
When home becomes unsafe, Nour becomes a sanctuary. We provide trauma-informed, culturally-attuned support: led by women from minoritised communities, whose lived experience & understanding help survivors feel seen, safe & able to access support. We: ·Work with trauma which affects up to 75% female survivors ·Understand how multiple disadvantages, faith & culture impact experiences of abuse ·Provide services in community languages ·Meet complex health & social needs through holistic support
