The Hive sits in the heart of Birkenhead, among the top 1% most deprived areas in the UK. Across Wirral, 1 in 3 children are living in poverty. At The Hive, 65% of our members come from the UK's most deprived communities, where this winter many families face the heart-breaking choice between heating their homes or putting food on the table. These challenges affect young people's wellbeing and opportunities year-round, but the financial and emotional pressures become even greater at Christmas.
At The Hive, we tackle the impact of poverty by providing affordable, accessible opportunities for young people seven days a week. Throughout the festive season, The Hive is a safe, warm space where young people can enjoy hot, healthy meals, stay warm and have fun. For families struggling with rising costs, we provide festive sessions, parties, food hampers and carefully chosen presents, easing financial pressure and ensuring every child can experience the joy and magic of Christmas.
