For 20 years, Justice First has delivered free specialist legal advice. In just 2 years, demand has doubled as more people are forced through the asylum system without legal aid or support. This campaign funds vital legal advice, support and advocacy so no one has to face the asylum system alone.

The legal aid crisis and increasingly hostile asylum system are leaving people without access to legal advice, representation, or justice. Demand for our support has risen from 618 people in 2023 to 1,106 in 2025. Without specialist guidance, people risk wrongful refusals, destitution, prolonged uncertainty, and severe impacts on mental health, families, and community stability. This creates a justice gap where individuals face life-changing decisions without support.

We will expand our specialist legal advice service across high-need areas, increasing staff capacity and appointment availability to meet rising demand. As the only organisation in the region providing this free support, we will also invest in interpretation and document translation so clients can engage in their first language. This ensures fair access to justice, improves case preparation, and addresses the gap in legal aid and specialist asylum support.
