Songs of Solidarity is a new music-theatre production co-created with PROJEKT UTOPIA. Set in a waiting room built on ruins, it brings together five migrant voices to create a powerful new form of epic theatre. Through collaborative R&D we'll develop the work towards production and touring in 2027–28

Stories of migration are too often shaped without the people who have lived them. Refugees and migrants remain underrepresented in the cultural narratives that define public understanding of displacement and belonging. Songs of Solidarity creates space for migrant artists and people with lived experience to shape a new theatrical language that reflects the complexity and cultural heritage of seeking sanctuary.

Working with PROJEKT UTOPIA, five commissioned migrant writers - Sabrina Mahfouz, Anna Sulan Masing, Inua Ellams, Leo Boix and Saili Katebe, composer Marouf Majidi, professional performers and UNHCR Storytellers, we'll develop Songs of Solidarity through a collaborative writers' room and R&D process. Alongside professional rehearsals, we'll work with migrant participants to explore how community participation and hospitality become part of the production itself.
