Young people in Zambia face high levels of unemployment and poverty, with many unable to access the vocational training that could transform their futures. Financial hardship prevents talented students from completing their education, while employers need practical skills, driving qualifications and workplace readiness. Without this support, many young people remain trapped in a cycle of unemployment and poverty.

Mechanics for Africa equips disadvantaged young people with the skills and support they need to secure sustainable employment. Funding provides hands-on workshop training, driving lessons, essential toolboxes and hardship grants so no student is excluded because they cannot afford their contribution. Care packages also help students stay on the programme, graduate and build a route out of poverty.
