The rate of deforestation in Cambodia is one of the highest in the world according to a report by CEEJA.In 2020 alone, Cambodia’s wildlife sanctuaries lost 48,000 hectares of tree cover. The deforestation in Phnom Kulen is having significant repercussions, from scarcities of water to soil degradation, soil erosion and the endangering of wildlife habitats. The myriad of negative impacts reverberates through to the health and well-being of the communities of Phnom Kulen and Siem Reap region.

By growing trees to rehabilitate and regenerate the tropical forest of Phnom Kulen National Park in tree nurseries within primary schools AND providing participatory learning to the school children with practical and regular techniques sessions in growing and raising trees, we contribute to ensure the sustainability of the reforastation of Phnom Kulen National Park. Thanks to our previous project, 700 students developed awareness and skills, and more than 150,000 saplings have been planted.
