Living with long-term, chronic, or fluctuating health conditions can be incredibly isolating, especially if you’re struggling to get appropriate treatment or even a diagnosis. National data shows that women* are more likely to be disabled and living with chronic health conditions, which can lead to loneliness, poverty, and poor wellbeing. The intersection of societal prejudices and stereotypes about women’s health can reduce women’s ability to advocate for themselves and access optimum care.
As well as campaigning for better awareness and understanding of women’s health experiences and needs at a national level, we hold events including social & support groups, training activities, and workshops. These reduce isolation, build confidence, and help our members feel validated and empowered. We provide our members with skills development, training, and tools, so that they can advocate for better care. Some members have gone on to volunteer and work with us on campaigns.
