Young women and girls are facing rising levels of domestic abuse, coercive control, sexual violence and exploitation. Many are in crisis with nowhere safe to turn, and long waits for specialist support leave them at continued risk. Young women aged 16–25 need specialist, age‑appropriate refuge support, as many lack experience in living independently, because they are young and/or have been in controlling relationships, and can struggle to advocate for themselves in adult refuges.
The Harmony Project provides emergency refuge accommodation for young women and their children escaping abuse. We offer trauma‑informed one‑to‑one support, personalised safety plans, emotional and practical help, and advocacy with key services. Providing immediate specialist support helps us to reduce risk levels, stabilise a crisis and, in turn, helps our young women rebuild safer lives for themselves and their families, working towards independence in a supportive and safe place.
