Around 1/3 of all food produced goes to waste whilst people in the Harrogate District have to choose between eating and paying bills and live with food insufficiency and food poverty.
Last year we prevented over 70 metric tonnes of food from going to waste and after quality control, we redirected the food to people in food poverty through our low-cost groceries. The cost-of-living crisis continues to impact many local households and the levels of food waste are still high. With the support of the match fund, we will be able to help rescue more food and feed more people with a well-balanced diet.
