As AI-generated content rapidly reshapes the online information landscape, human-made, verifiable knowledge is under increasing pressure. Wikipedia relies on people to create, check and improve the world’s largest free knowledge resource, but this work is at risk without support. Wikimedia UK empowers volunteers to strengthen Wikipedia, ensuring reliable, human-created knowledge remains open, accurate and accessible to everyone.

Wikimedia UK addresses this modern day challenge by supporting the people and communities who build Wikipedia. We recruit and train volunteers, run editing and skills workshops, and partner with cultural and educational institutions to improve the quality and reliability of content. We strengthen participation in knowledge creation, ensuring Wikipedia remains well-maintained, transparent, and grounded in human judgement rather than automated or unverified content.
