We’re raising £200,000 to transform the futures of young people in BANES who are not in education, employment or training. Thanks to up to £100,000 of match funding already secured, every pound you give could go twice as far, funding training, support and paid work, restoring confidence and hope.

There are an estimated 1 million young people Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) in the UK. In BANES 1 in 10 young people are NEET, with some areas in the lowest 1% nationally for educational outcomes. The recent Milburn report to government warns of a “lost generation”, a “moral crisis” and a “long-term scarring effect” on young people. Every ‘NEET’ is a young person who is losing hope and confidence. Many are isolated, struggling with their mental health and feeling abandoned.

We will combine practical training, paid employment and intensive support to help NEET young people build confidence, skills and stability. Each young person will complete four weeks of barista and employment training, followed by a year of employment in our coffee shop. Alongside this, we will provide tailored support with challenges such as housing, family issues and mental health. Helping young people to believe in themselves, gain lasting employment and transform their future.
