Sense Scotland began as a group of families pressing for services for their children who were affected by deafblindness, many because of maternal rubella. Today we hold true to our family values, supporting hundreds of families across Scotland, through all life’s challenges and opportunities,

Sense Scotland work with people who have communication support needs arising from a range of disabilities, often with additional complex health needs. As a result of the complexity of their communication needs, as well as their other care and health needs, the people we support and their families are amongst the most isolated and marginalised in their communities with little or no access to accessible activities, opportunities to learn, volunteer, gain skills, and socialise.
In addition to care services we provide vital programmes, activities and support to help people we support be included, develop life skills and independence, explore interests and talents. This would not be possible without our Learning and Development team who provide staff with specialist skills and knowledge to support people with complex care and health needs to share their views, make life decisions, take on challenges, make friends, and have fun while also being safe and well cared for.
