We know that young women’s wellbeing is disproportionately and consistently impacted by inequality. Our research shows that gender inequality has been further exacerbated by the cost-of-living crisis, the rise of misogynistic rhetoric and VAWG, and a lack of access to services and distrust in service providers. We also know that young women value the opportunity to come together to make friends, build connections and enjoy respite from their daily lives. YWT is designed to meet this need.

YWT addresses social isolation and loneliness challenges. We follow the youth work principles of voluntary participation, and we work in a youth-led capacity. We meet young women where they are and engage in ways that suit them and provide a safe space for peer learning and solution focused work, as well as free wellbeing and creative activities where young women can find joy and learn different ways to express themselves, improve wellbeing and build emotional resilience.
