Borana Conservancy in Kenya is dedicated to wildlife conservation and building local livelihoods. Mazingira Yetu ("Our Environment" in KiSwahili) provides training to inspire and empower communities living around Borana to conserve the land they share with wildlife, including black and white rhinos.

Borana Conservancy is an important conservation area for black and white rhinos, and many other threatened species. The long-term future of this environment is threatened by increasing pressures on the land such as overgrazing and unsustainable farming. Local community members do not have access to environmental training and agricultural practices which can restore and protect the landscape to benefit people, rhinos and other wildlife for generations to come.

Save the Rhino funds the conservation educators, vehicles and learning centre that make Mazingira Yetu possible. Children from local schools visit the Conservancy aboard the Mazingira Express, seeing wildlife, tracking rhinos and exploring sustainable farming. Adults join practical sessions on composting, soil health and water conservation which they can apply at home. Through Mazingira Yetu, we are applying practical tools for landscape conservation and creating opportunities for people.
