Barriers to education disproportionately affect girls and limit their life options. Gender inequity is more pronounced by secondary school: 66 girls complete secondary school for every 100 boys in low-income countries. Annually the world loses an estimated $15-30 trillion in girls’ potential earnings due to our failure to ensure all girls receive 12 years of education. Girls denied education lack crucial knowledge, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation, discrimination and gendered violence.
