Seafarers affected by conflict, attack, detention, bereavement or prolonged crisis at sea can carry fear, anxiety and trauma long after danger has passed. This campaign funds wellbeing and recovery support, plus specialist trauma therapy for those with greater needs.

Seafarers experience trauma in isolated, high-risk environments. Conflict, attack, detention, or prolonged crisis at sea can leave lasting fear, anxiety and distress. The Strait of Hormuz crisis left 20,000 seafarers stranded, with 11,000 directly affected by 46 security incidents and 14 fatalities. Over 25% of maritime trauma survivors show PTSD symptoms, often months later. Yet support often ends at crisis response, leaving hidden trauma untreated.
We will deliver a structured trauma recovery pathway for seafarers affected by conflict, attack, detention or prolonged crisis at sea. Through trusted maritime welfare partners, all referred seafarers will receive early wellbeing assessment and be guided to one of two options: recovery and wellbeing support for most, or specialist trauma therapy for those with greater needs, including CBT or EMDR, family support, safeguarding oversight and follow-up checks.
