Across rural Togo, safe drinking water remains out of reach for many families. Thousands of boreholes have fallen into disrepair, leaving communities reliant on unsafe ponds and streams and increasing the risk of waterborne diseases. Women and children often spend hours collecting water and firewood, limiting opportunities for education and income. Boiling unsafe water over open fires also contributes to deforestation, deepening the challenges faced by vulnerable communities.
Deki works alongside local communities to restore broken boreholes and provide reliable access to safe drinking water. Through women-led Mother Clubs, communities receive WASH training, soap-making skills, hygiene education, and practical maintenance training, ensuring they have the knowledge and confidence to protect their families' health and keep water systems working long into the future. Together, we are building healthier, more resilient communities.
