Every four minutes, parents are told their unborn baby has no heartbeat, an incurable illness, or that their newborn baby will die. Left unsupported, this trauma can lead to higher rates of mental illness and relationship breakdown. There is no dedicated psychological care on the NHS, and we see a 133% increase in referrals at this time of year. Demand is already high, but reduced services, delays to funerals, and 'putting on a brave face' at festive events all add to the extra need for support.

Petals give bereaved parents a place of safety helping them to find hope after their loss through free specialist therapy. With our highly trained counsellors, they process the trauma they have experienced using our unique programme. We respond to all referrals within one day, and our triage appointments continue between Christmas and New Year. Our critical intervention protects people from spiralling, from mental illnesses taking hold and it allows them to move forward healthily.
