We would like to grow our provision for young adults in Sutton who are struggling with their mental health, by providing access to our projects and ensuring they have a safe, welcoming place to find support before crisis deepens, ensuring they feel heard, connected and able to take their next step

Around 1 in 5 young people aged 20–25 (22%) experience mental health difficulties, most commonly anxiety, depression and self-harm. Young women are around twice as likely to struggle as young men. Financial hardship is a key factor, with 26% unable to afford social activities. Self-harm is a significant concern locally, and the transition from CAMHS to adult services at age 18 is known to be a time of increased vulnerability, highlighting the need for accessible community-based support.
We will recruit a dedicated project worker and draw on our 30 years of experience supporting people with their mental health in Sutton to co-produce services with local young adults, particularly young women who are disproportionately affected. Working alongside young people we will develop a tailored service offer, eg to expand our free well-being activities, develop new support options, offer Intentional Peer Support training and create volunteering roles that build confidence and experience.
