In rural Oromia, most children go home to households where there are no books, no quiet space, and little opportunity to study. The only library building at Delo has gradually become unusable: the roof leaks and the structure is unsafe. Right now, the room is just used for storage. For the 468 students, many of whom are preparing for high-stakes Grade 6 and Grade 8 exams, this absence of a dedicated study space is more than an inconvenience. It is a barrier, and one that falls heaviest on girls.

We will construct a purpose-built library for Delo Primary School. Designed with students in mind, the building will have natural lighting, ventilation and secure windows. It will be a safe, welcoming reading environment. The school community, already eager to improve their facilities, has committed to furnishing the library with tables, chairs and shelves. Together We Learn will provide construction, ongoing monitoring and practical training to ensure the library is well used from day one.
