We’re creating a connected woodland corridor across Derbyshire, working together to plant trees, create wildlife corridors and deliver climate resilience. As a community, we will restore and naturally manage our landscapes to resist the pressures of the climate crisis and create a resilient future.

Nature is in crisis. The UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world, with species abundance at just 17% of 1970 levels. Habitats are fragmented, leaving wildlife isolated and unable to adapt to climate change. As temperatures rise, species are forced to move, but without connected habitats, they cannot survive. Communities are also increasingly disconnected from nature, impacting well-being and resilience.
We will reconnect landscapes by creating a network of trees and wooded habitats across Derbyshire. From individual trees to hedgerows, orchards and restored woodlands, we’ll build a continuous corridor linking upland and lowland landscapes. Volunteer-led work parties and careful natural grazing will restore ecosystems, improve soil and water retention, and enable species to move and thrive, connecting the Northern Forest to the National Forest.
