Social mobility in the UK is under strain. Around 1 million young people are not in education, employment or training, with numbers rising. The UK ranks 22nd of 38 OECD countries for youth employment outcomes. For young people facing disadvantage, who you know and where you live still shape your chances, restricting access to networks, experience and paid opportunities, meaning too many young people are held back and too much talent goes unseen, limiting life chances.
Career Ready transforms the social mobility of young people, connecting them with employer supporters through a structured programme over 12–18 months. Each young person is matched with a mentor, completes a paid internship and takes part in skills masterclasses. This combination of sustained employer engagement, real workplace experience and practical support builds confidence, grows belonging, expands networks and opens access to opportunities, supporting positive and aspirational destinations
