Across rural India, people with disabilities often live at the margins of society. Many face entrenched stigma, barriers to education, limited livelihood opportunities, and inadequate access to healthcare. As a result, families can become trapped in cycles of poverty, compounded by restricted mobility, poor services, and a lack of support. Women, who are most often primary caregivers, frequently bear the greatest burden, reinforcing the link between disability, inequality, and poverty.

Through community-based disability groups, CRUSADE supports persons with disabilities and their caregivers to access healthcare, physiotherapy, assistive devices, and social security entitlements. The programme provides life skills training, income-generation support, home-based opportunities for carers, special education for neurodiverse children, and early medical intervention. Through these actions, we can help families break the cycle of disability-related poverty.
