Brighton & Hove has the 2nd highest number of residents living with HIV in England. Our service users experience multiple social, financial and economic disadvantages, have poorer health including co-morbidities and often profoundly complex needs. It is our mission to reach and support those with financial and social disadvantage who are unreached, do not otherwise access support, and are looking for accessible, community based, HIV peer-led support.
We will provide a weekly HIV lunch club where people meet to overcome social isolation and loneliness, form and sustain supportive friendships; relieve poverty; access food & nutritional support; get advice & information; share peer support; and access specialised outreach support provided by our support worker and visiting partner organisations, benefits, mental health, substance misuse, etc. The HIV Lunch Club supports between 50-80 people at each session.
