Families of children and young people with SEND often face long waiting lists, complex systems, social isolation and significant emotional and financial pressures. Those living in deprived communities face additional barriers, including limited access to information, transport and specialist support. Demand for our Family Support service continues to grow, but we currently operate at a deficit, limiting our capacity to respond. Without early intervention, many families reach crisis point.
We will expand our Family Support service to reach more families earlier, particularly those most vulnerable in deprived communities. Through one-to-one support, community outreach, family groups, practical resources and trusted SEND guidance, we will help families navigate complex systems, improve wellbeing and reduce isolation. Funding will increase Family Support Worker capacity, reduce waiting times and provide accessible support both in person and through digital resources.
