Motor Neurone Disease (MND) can rob people of their ability to speak, but not their thoughts, personality or desire to communicate. Many people are diagnosed too late to bank their voice, while others are unaware of the option until their speech has deteriorated. Losing the ability to communicate can lead to isolation, frustration, reduced independence and difficulty expressing needs and wishes. We want to help people living with MND preserve their identity, dignity and connection.

Challenging MND will launch a Voice Restoration Programme, helping people living with MND recreate their voice using AI technology. We will support beneficiaries and their families every step of the process, from gathering recordings and creating their voice to setting up and using the technology. We will also provide ongoing support, helping people communicate with loved ones, carers and healthcare professionals using a voice that sounds like their own.
