Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) represents a significant unmet medical need, particularly in the relapsed setting where options are limited. Over 50% of patients diagnosed with AML will relapse, and of those who relapse under 20% will survive. There is currently only one approved drug for relapsed AML in the UK. The poor prognosis is compounded by a lack of clinical trials delivered in the UK for high risk and relapsing AML, leading to inequitable access compared with comparable patients worldwide

Our funding will establish the infrastructure required for the set-up of the platform. It is vital to establish an infrastructure in the UK to allow participation in clinical trials delivered by the INTERCEPT platform in partnership with the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group. This will consolidate the UKs position as an attractive destination for new therapies by the global pharmaceutical sector, aligning with our ambitions to increase trial activity to benefit blood cancer patients
