Across Derbyshire, many children face poverty, family hardship, social isolation and poor emotional wellbeing. Some have caring responsibilities, have experienced trauma or bereavement, or have limited opportunities beyond their immediate community. Many have never had a holiday. These experiences can affect confidence, resilience, relationships and aspirations, leaving children at risk of missing out on the opportunities they need to flourish.
Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre provides free residential seaside holidays for children aged 6–11 who would benefit most. We cover all costs, including transport, accommodation, meals and activities. Through fun, friendship, adventure and our '5 Days to Thrive' programme, children build confidence, resilience, social skills and positive memories, returning home with a renewed sense of self-belief and possibility.
