PiPA works to ensure that no parent or carer has to choose between their family and their career, in an industry characterised by late nights and unpredictable working hours. We campaign for change, support employers working towards the PiPA Pledge, and offer practical resources and community.

Next time you listen to your favourite song, head to panto or take your kids to the theatre this festive season, think about the people behind it. Many of them are parents and carers, making the art that brings us together while caring for others. Unpredictable hours, last-minute call times, and a lack of child/eldercare make the arts a tough industry to stay in once you have a family depending on you. So many talented people find themselves having to step away because they can't make it work.
PiPA helps parents and carers stay in the performing arts by driving sector-wide change. Working with more than 80 cultural organisations, we influence policies and working practices, produce evidence-led research that highlights the challenges parents and carers face, and bring the sector together to create solutions. By coordinating collective action, PiPA is helping build a performing arts industry where no one has to choose between their career and their caring responsibilities.
