When a child is admitted to hospital, families often arrive unexpectedly and face significant financial and emotional strain. Parents may stay for weeks, lose income, and spend £392 on average per week on essentials, while only 30% of UK hospitals provide meals for resident parents. Many skip meals or rely on vending machines, impacting wellbeing and their child’s recovery. Sophie’s Snack Boxes ensure 24/7 access to food, drinks and toiletries for families and children.
We will provide Sophie’s Snack Boxes free of charge in children’s wards, Special Care Baby Units, A&E and oncology units in hospitals, ensuring parents and children have 24/7 access to food, drinks and essential toiletries. Placed in accessible ward areas, the boxes allow families to meet basic needs without leaving bedside care. This supports parental wellbeing, reduces stress and improves a child’s recovery. Funding ensures families can eat, maintain dignity and cope during hospital stays.
