In the UK today, a young person’s background too often determines their future. Amidst declining social mobility, young people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds face barriers to education and employment. Those eligible for free school meals are less than half as likely to go to university or secure professional apprenticeships as their more advantaged peers. Our vision is a future where every young person is empowered to realise their potential, regardless of background.
Young people from under-represented backgrounds join our four-year Future Leaders Programme in Year 10 and access regular in-person 1:1 coaching, targeted workshops and visits to universities and workplaces. We deliver opportunities which empower young people to make confident and informed decisions about their future, raise academic outcomes, and build employability skills. We work in areas of high unmet need providing long-term, sustained support to reach those who would benefit most.
