When you have very little, it's hard to imagine changing your own life, let alone your community. Across rural sub-Saharan Africa, we meet people who quietly believe they're powerless to make change happen. So they wait – for an NGO, an outsider, someone else to come and help. Often nobody comes. When they do, they help for a while, then leave. Without ownership from within, nothing changes for long.
We believe EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE – especially the 'least' (Matthew 25:40) – can carry God's life and hope into their own community. Instead of importing help from outside, Dignity raises up people from within: forming Life Groups, EVERYDAY Christian communities on mission together, who share the message of Jesus and love their neighbours practically. Change that starts inside a community is change that lasts.
