Many people in Uganda are unable to work or secure food because of long-term disabilities caused by leprosy. This can lead to poverty, while poor nutrition and limited access to treatment further worsens their health. Many are also excluded by their communities due to fears of the disease spreading. Many people are haunted by the stigma of leprosy and are scared to get tested. They don't realise it can be cured with antibiotics that are available worldwide, if diagnosed promptly.
