In East Africa, many people have the skills and determination to improve their lives but face interconnected barriers to opportunity. Around 1 in 4 people in Kenya, and more than 50% in Tanzania, experience multidimensional poverty, with limited access to essentials such as clean water, healthcare and education. These challenges reinforce one another, preventing people from progressing. The challenge is not a lack of potential, but a lack of access to the essential foundations to move forward.
We will work alongside communities to unlock potential and create lasting opportunities. Rather than tackling issues in isolation, we will address the interconnected barriers people face by combining access to essential needs such as water and sanitation, health education and menstrual dignity, with skills training, livelihoods support and local leadership development. We strengthen individuals, families and communities together, creating pathways to greater resilience, prosperity and wellbeing.
