Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 35. Men account for three out of every four deaths by suicide, but only a third of NHS talking therapy referrals. Many men find themselves suddenly in suicidal crisis after challenging life events. These men are at a very high risk of taking their own lives but often cannot access support quickly enough. Every suicide results in a lifetime of devastation for families, friends and communities. But with the right support, suicide is preventable.

James' Place provides free, life-saving therapy to men aged 18+ in suicidal crisis. We usually see men within two working days of their referral. In our friendly, non-clinical centres, trained therapists help men understand and resolve their suicidal crisis quickly and develop tools to cope with future challenges. Across our four centres (Liverpool, London, Newcastle and Birmingham), we have supported more than 5,100 men, saving many lives.
