Families of children with PANS or PANDAS often face delays in diagnosis due to low awareness amongst GPs and CAMHS. This project will increase understanding among healthcare professionals, enabling earlier recognition, better support, and improved outcomes for affected children and their families.

PANS and PANDAS are serious neuropsychiatric conditions that can emerge suddenly, with life-changing effects on children and families, yet awareness among many NHS GPs and CAMHS professionals remains low, leading to misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, or no diagnosis at all. Families are left struggling for answers and support. Access to diagnosis and treatment should not depend on where a child lives or a family’s ability to pay. The current postcode lottery is unacceptable and must end.
