Many young people arrive in the UK having experienced war, persecution or trafficking. Extreme trauma leaves young people unable to feel safe, trust others or regulate their emotions, disrupting healthy development, education and relationships. Without timely support, they remain isolated, struggle to rebuild their lives and are prevented from participating fully in society. This prevents young refugees from building community, creating meaningful connections and realising their aspirations.
Play for Progress provides specialist, trauma-informed therapy tailored to each young person. Our highly trained, licensed therapists help young people heal from trauma as they progress through tailored programmes. These are typically a combination of talk therapy, drama therapy, art and breathing techniques. During 1-2-1 & group therapy sessions, there is consistent attention to stability, empowerment and autonomy with all sessions being young-person-led creating trust, safety and belonging.
