Wildcats are one of the UK's most loved but endangered animals. Habitat loss, persecution and interbreeding with feral domestic cats has brought them to the brink of extinction. Urgent action is now underway by Saving Wildcats to restore their numbers in Scotland by breeding and releasing them into the wild. The future of released wildcats relies on awareness and understanding by local communities and landowners, so your support for this campaign will help people and wildcats thrive together.
Thanks to support from many people, Saving Wildcats has established a dedicated wildcat conservation breeding for release centre at Highland Wildlife Park. Each summer, a new group of young wildcats are released from the centre into the Cairngorms National Park and monitored as they adapt to life in the wild. Over time, Saving Wildcats aims to establish a sustainable population of wildcats once again in Scotland.
