Menstruation remains a major barrier to equity in the UK. People who menstruate experience stigma, shame, discrimination and exclusion, affecting their confidence, health, education and opportunities. Young people are particularly affected, yet are often excluded from decisions about the issues that impact them. Despite growing awareness, responses often focus on short-term fixes rather than addressing the underlying social attitudes, policies and systems that perpetuate menstrual injustice.

Irise tackles menstrual injustice by equipping and resourcing young people to lead change. Through youth leadership, research, advocacy and community action, we challenge stigma, influence policy and improve understanding of menstruation. We amplify young voices through initiatives such as the Empower Period Committee and use evidence to drive change in schools, communities and decision-making spaces, creating lasting progress towards menstrual justice.
