Celebrating Christmas while in a Hospice can feel difficult as people think about what could be their final one. Our wonderful team work to make everyone's experience special and to do whatever we can to help them make precious memories and to enjoy time with their loved ones.

We have a pivotal role all year round caring for those with life limiting illnesses, but at Christmas it becomes all the more important. Being in a Hospice at this time of year can feel daunting to everyone involved and that any sort of celebration should stop, but we believe every moment should be treasured. The importance of enabling patients to spend quality time with those they love and to make those final precious memories cannot be underestimated.

We make Xmas happen for our patients in any way they need us to. This could be bringing the festivities earlier; decorating their room, having a turkey dinner and giving presents with their family in November. Sometimes, being close by is enough and our ensuite Valerian room is available for overnight stays to be near to a loved one. We try to make the season feel special for everyone, with Xmas dinner, mince pies and carol singing from local schools and choirs. We want every moment to matter.
