Every child deserves to hear the sounds of belonging: laughter, friendship, encouragement, creativity, and their own voice being valued. For children who are forced to flee their homes in search of safety, those sounds may have been interrupted. Through our workshops, we help children create them.

Belonging has a sound. It sounds like children laughing together in the playground. Friends calling to each other. A child proudly sharing an idea. A group cheering each other on.But for children forced to flee their homes, those sounds can feel far away. Starting over in a new place can be incredibly isolating. For children experiencing the asylum system in the UK, there are few opportunities to connect, and many struggle to find their place, build friendships and feel safe or that they belong.

Hear Me Out helps create those sounds again. Through music and creative workshops, children come together to express themselves, work through the challenging experiences they’ve had, build confidence, find a safe space and form lasting connections. The result is a room full of laughter, encouragement, singing, storytelling and applause. These are more than sounds. They are the sounds of confidence. Friendship. Hope. The sounds of belonging.
