At Sreepur Village in Bangladesh, abused, abandoned and widowed mothers and their children find safety, care and a good meal every day. This Christmas, help us fund a year of nourishing food and the cooks who prepare it, so no mother or child has to wonder where their next meal is coming from.

Destitute single mothers and their children frequently arrive having survived on one meal a day, or none. Children are frail and underweight, too weak to concentrate or fight off illness, and the long-term damage of early malnutrition can be permanent. Without reliable, nutritious food, a mother cannot regain her strength to work, and her children cannot grow or learn their way out of poverty.

Four cooks prepare fresh, balanced meals of rice, fish, chicken and vegetables each day, much of it grown in our own gardens and the rest bought locally. Mothers help with food preparation and in the dining hall, gaining everyday skills and confidence for life after the village. Around this reliable food, each mother receives the healthcare, counselling and training she needs to rebuild her life, while her children are kept healthy, well fed and supported through school.
