We are in a freshwater emergency. Our rivers are being drained and polluted to breaking point, threatening the water we drink and the food we grow. Government has allowed this exploitation and has no clear plan. We're calling for water justice: urgent action to secure a fair water future for all.

Water shortages are already affecting communities, and a 6 billion litre UK shortfall per day is predicted by 2050. Our lifeblood is being stolen and wasted by industry. This affects every element of our lives - food, education, health. Current plans to prevent and protect us from this catastrophe fall woefully short. The water industry infrastructure is failing - 20% of water is lost to leaks and regulators are allowing rivers to be abstracted beyond the limits they can recover from.
There is hope: with leadership and investment our nation’s water can be secured. We will launch a powerful campaign to bring this emergency up the Government agenda and make water resilience a top priority. By convening an influential community of researchers, industry leaders, campaigners, influencers and media outlets we will raise public awareness and pressure politicians and industry to declare a freshwater emergency and fund an urgent plan to save our lifeblood, water.
