Our Stepping Stones Programme offers a safe place to grow. We work alongside people who are disabled and experience mental ill-health at their pace. Together, we tackle barriers to independence, volunteering and employment so they can thrive - building confidence, skills, and friendships that last.

Disabled people in the UK are twice as likely to be unemployed and nearly half of all disabled people experience poverty. Disabled adults are ten times as likely to be chronically lonely as a typical adult in the UK. In Kensington & Chelsea, the most unequal place in the country, the most affluent live almost twenty years longer than the poorest. Disabled people want to be independent and included, living healthier, happier lives. We are working with them to make that happen.
We work 1-to-1 and in small groups with disabled people and those with long‑term mental illness. Alongside our many local partners, we help people to manage their health, develop purpose and belonging via activities from poetry to yoga to gardening; build skills and get used to regular work and collaboration by volunteering. Once people feel valued and valuable, and so ready to work, their bigger goals, like independence and employment, are much more achievable, and much more often achieved.
