Globally 1.75 billion children lack access to safe surgery, that's 7 out of every 10 children globally. Five times more people die every year from surgically preventable conditions than HIV, Malaria and TB combined. Children have their futures stolen by treatable conditions, a broken leg causes permanent disability and prevents attending school, a hernia which causes constant pain. Hospitals don't have enough space or the right equipment, surgeons operate by torch light with adult sized tools.
We create world-class operating rooms for children globally, where surgical teams face the greatest challenges. We go where we’re needed most, Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, everything is designed to support local teams and health systems. We transform spaces, usually in public hospitals, supply each room with 3,300 pieces of equipment, use local engineers to ensure its all working and train staff. We have pioneering solar technology to ensure even during blackouts, care can be delivered as needed.
