Too many care experienced young people grow up feeling isolated, misunderstood and defined by circumstances beyond their control. They face higher rates of poor mental health and barriers to education and employment, yet often lack opportunities to build meaningful relationships and imagine positive futures. Too often, support responds at crisis point instead of creating spaces where young people can grow in confidence, find belonging and realise their potential.
Through weekly theatre workshops led by professional artists, Raising The Roof gives care experienced young people the opportunity to create original work and perform on a professional stage. Through theatre they build trust, explore different perspectives and tell stories on their own terms. Graduates progress into our paid Lived Experience Leadership Team, helping design, deliver and evaluate projects while influencing the services and opportunities that shape the lives of care leavers.
