Across East Africa, communities are making coexistence with lions work. This Christmas, double the impact of every gift. Funds support community wildlife programmes, predator-proof livestock enclosures, and conservation livelihoods across over 80,000 km² in Kenya and Tanzania.

Across East Africa, communities and large carnivores share the same land. When wildlife costs communities their livestock and livelihoods, coexistence breaks down. Lion numbers have declined significantly across the continent. The challenge is not simply stopping loss, but making wildlife genuinely valuable to the people who live alongside it. Without that shift, conflict escalates, wildlife disappears, and the ecosystems that communities depend on are diminished.

Lion Landscapes works alongside communities to make large carnivore conservation valuable. Through our CCT+ programme, communities earn tangible benefits from wildlife on their land. Community liaisons, including Lion Defenders and Lion Extension Officers, monitor carnivore movements and mediate conflict. Fortified bomas reduce the likelihood of carnivore attack by up to 94%. Across over 80,000 km² in Kenya and Tanzania, these programmes turn coexistence from a burden into an opportunity.
